Cupping, Scraping and Acupuncture

Cupping therapy is one of the traditional Chinese medicine practices that use cups as tools. It involves creating a negative pressure inside the cups by either lighting a flame or using a suction method to remove the air, which allows the cups to adhere to specific acupuncture points or areas that require treatment. This process leads to local congestion and the formation of blood stasis, aiming to prevent and treat diseases. According to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, “smooth flow results in no pain, and pain is caused by blocked flow.” When the muscles, ligaments, or bones in the human body are injured, blood stasis may form locally, obstructing the circulation of Qi and blood. If this blood stasis is not dispelled, the pain will persist. Therefore, applying cupping therapy to corresponding acupuncture points can help eliminate blood stasis, promote the generation of fresh blood, unblock the meridians, and facilitate the circulation of Qi and blood, thereby achieving the goal of relieving pain.

Cupping therapy has a wide range of applications and can be used to treat the following conditions:

Colds, coughs, epigastric pain, indigestion etc

Orthopedic diseases such as cervical spondylosis, stiff neck, lumbar disc herniation, lumbar muscle strain, frozen shoulder, and knee joint pain.

Herpes zoster (shingles)

Muscle soreness and tension.

Boosting the immune system.

Gua Sha Therapy

Gua Sha Therapy

Gua Sha is one of China’s traditional natural therapies. It is based on the theory of the skin in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and involves scraping or rubbing certain areas of the skin using tools like buffalo horns, jade stones, or cups to promote the dredging of meridians and the activation of blood circulation. Gua Sha can expand the capillaries, increase sweat gland secretion, and improve blood circulation, which can help clear the meridians, alleviate pain, relieve fatigue, and enhance immune function.

Benefits of Gua Sha Therapy:

  • Accelerating the body’s detoxification process and enhancing self-repair capabilities.
  • Dispersing blood stasis and stagnant Qi, unblocking meridians, and boosting the immune system.
  • Eliminating muscle soreness and discomfort caused by stagnation of Qi and blood.
